In 1960 The Spurwink School was created to serve “troubled boys.” In response to the needs of Maine families, The Spurwink School evolved over time into a comprehensive mental health organization known simply as “Spurwink.”
Today, Spurwink is the parent company for three non-profit subsidiaries: Spurwink Services, Spurwink Institute and the Augusta Boys and Girls Club for Teens. Together these organizations employ over 900 people and provide education, prevention, technology and social services to thousands of individuals and families.
Spurwink has been fortunate to have the interest and support of many community members, businesses and policy makers. This support, coupled with the combined wisdom and experience of our individual employees is what makes it possible for Spurwink to make a difference in the lives of so many people each year.
It is the essence of how Spurwink is able to Go the distance…and change lives.
