The Spurwink Institute offers a variety of programs designed to improve the quality of care provided to people with special needs. A consistent theme in development of these programs has been the formation of partnerships with other organizations, particularly institutions of higher education. Links with the University of Maine System, the Maine Community College System and the University of New England enable The Spurwink Institute to offer programming to professionals in a variety of fields that is solidly grounded in academic theory and practice, and that combines the rigor of higher education with practical, real-world experience gained from years of applied programming. Our programs for educators, mental health and behavioral health professionals, corrections professionals and others rely on a blend of best educational and professional practices, and undergo continuous change and improvement in response to self assessments and customer feedback.
