Program monitoring and evaluation information can understand, verify or increase the impact of services for clients. They can:
- Determine, assure and increase the impact of services for persons served;
- Provide outcome measures that meet requirements of funders and licensers;
- Improve delivery of services to be more efficient and effective;
- Identify strengths and weaknesses for improving programs;
- Verify that programs are accomplishing their designed purposes; and
- Assure that there is no duplication of efforts.
These efforts can be:
- Goal-based (determining to what degree programs are achieving their identified objectives)
- Process-based (understanding how programs really work, their strengths and weaknesses)
- Outcomes-based (identifying benefits to the persons being served)
Tools used in these endeavors may include questionnaires, surveys, checklists, interviews, documentation review, observation, focus groups, case studies, quantitative and qualitative data collection, and analysis of data. Working in conjunction with programs, organizations or agencies, the Spurwink Institute provides the necessary expertise to achieve identified purposes, including staff training in all aspects.
Services relative to Accreditation include:
- Thorough assessment of organizational readiness for accreditation;
- Development of a personalized plan of action – organization of tasks necessary for achieving accreditation;
- Development of accreditation self-study;
- Staff training;
- Preparation for site visit;
- Mock survey (providing additional assessment of agency’s readiness and practice for staff with the process); and
- Development of plan of action in response to final accreditation report.
In each area, The Spurwink Institute (TSI) works to establish the level of support, consultation and assistance desired ranging from primary responsibility working closely with agency staff to accomplish recommended actions, to provision of a detailed plan of action for agency staff to follow with TSI providing consultative support.
